"How can we begin to thank you for the support you gave us? We wanted to keep my mother at home – you made that possible. We wanted to keep her as comfortable as possible – you showed us how. You took care of the family as well, by understanding and by caring." ~ A grateful hospice family
As the second oldest hospice in the nation, we draw from a depth of expertise, experience and compassion in our care for our patients, who are in the last phases of their illness, and their families. Our team approach to care allows us to offer patients the highest quality medical care and help meet practical, emotional and spiritual needs to improve their quality of life. The Team also offers the patient's family members a range of support services to help them cope during a difficult time.
The Hospice By The Bay Team makes regular visits at the bedside wherever our patients call home – a family residence, a long-term care facility or a hospital room. Nurses are on-call 24 hours a day/seven days a week to answer questions or make an emergency visit. Our skilled team partners with the patient’s own physician to ensure the patient is as comfortable and cared for as possible.
For the patient's family and caregivers, the Hospice Team provides training on how to help care for their loved one, as well as continuing emotional support before and after a loss.
When should you call Hospice By The Bay? See Is it Time for Hospice? or contact one of our offices. Patients and families frequently tell us they wish they had called earlier, that both the patient and family would have benefited longer from Hospice By The Bay’s personalized care management and focused attention to their well being.
