"I do other volunteer services, but Hospice By The Bay is the crown jewel"
~ A Hospice Volunteer

As a Hospice By The Bay volunteer, you help fulfill our essential mission: to provide compassionate, high-quality care for those coping with life-threatening illness, as well as support to their families and loved ones.

We offer two types of opportunities, Direct Care and Organization Support. We place a high value on our volunteers’ commitment to our work. Please review the following volunteer opportunities to see where you want to help. Then, click here to fill out the Volunteer Information Request, and we’ll contact you!

DIRECT CARE VOLUNTEERS

  • Patient Care
Part of the Hospice care team, they make visits to the patient’s home -- whether that’s a private residence, a residential care facility, or hospital. They offer companionship, relief care to caregivers, running errands, providing transport to appointments, or grocery shopping.
  • Complementary Care
Certified or specially trained practitioners use their skills to nurture the physical and emotional well-being of a patient through gentle massage, energy work, animal social visits, and music activity. Previous experience with chronic illness, cancer patients, or the elderly is preferred.
  • Bereavement Outreach
Make calls to family members or caregivers following the death of a loved one to check-in on their well-being and offer HBTB bereavement services.
